Terms of service

Last updated 10 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Treebars for using Treebars. By creating an account or a project you agree to them.

Who sells Treebars

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: it takes the payment, charges and remits sales tax or VAT, issues the receipts and handles billing enquiries and refunds. Its buyer terms apply to the purchase itself. Everything else about the service is between you and us.

Your account and your projects

You need an account to use Treebars, and everything in it belongs to a project. You are responsible for who you invite to a project and what they do there, for keeping your keys secret, and for what your apps send us.

For the people who use your apps and websites, you decide what is collected and why, and we process it on your behalf, as the privacy policy describes. You must have a lawful basis for what you send, and you must not send us payment card numbers, passwords, health records or anything else you are not allowed to share.

What you may not do

Use Treebars to send messages people did not agree to receive, to break the law or anybody’s rights, to attack or overload the service or anybody else’s, or to get around a limit of your plan. We may suspend a project that does, and we will tell you why unless the law or the safety of others stops us.

Plans and what they cost

The pricing page lists the plans. Free costs nothing and can never charge you; when it reaches an allowance, the meter pauses until the month turns. A paid plan is a subscription, billed monthly or yearly in advance until it is cancelled.

Each project also has a prepaid balance in US dollars. On a paid plan, use past the month’s allowances — events, messages, and Iris past its included credit — is charged to the balance at the rates shown on the pricing page and in the dashboard, never more than the spend cap you set for the month. If the balance cannot pay, a grace of part of the allowance carries on unpaid, and then the meter pauses; nothing already collected is lost. You can let the balance top itself up from the card your plan is paid with when it runs low, and turn that off at any time.

We may change prices. A change never applies to a period you have already paid for, and a new price reaches a subscription only from its next renewal after we have told you.

Changing plan, cancelling, and a failed payment

Moving to a larger plan takes effect at once, charged for the rest of the current period. Moving to a smaller one or cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and the project goes to Free (or, if you already own a free project, to a plan that includes nothing until you choose one).

If a renewal cannot be collected, the plan carries on for 14 days while Paddle tries again and we tell you. If it is still unpaid after that, the subscription is cancelled.

Refunds are described in the refund policy.

Your data

Your data is yours. You can export it, and you can delete a project, a person or your account. When you leave, we delete it as the privacy policy says. We use it only to run the service for you.

The service

Treebars is in private beta, and we are improving it every week. We work to keep it available and correct, but we provide it as it is, without a promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you for anything arising from these terms is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose, and neither of us is liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When a change matters, we will tell the owners of every project before it takes effect; using Treebars after that is agreeing to it.
